Sweet Sweet Washington

The journey through Oregon has been amazing. We headed out of Ashland with full bellies and well rested feet. We were glad to leave California and enter the beautiful Cascade mountains. But we were not too excited about the mosquito's. If it wasn't for all of the magical area's in Oregon we probably would of gone crazy. The walking has been easier than previous area's. To sum it up, you walk all day through the trees which is mostly flat, then come out onto huge volcanoes. Most of us PCT hikers tend to cruise pretty fast through these sections, but Luke and I decided to soak up the views and take our time. It has been a great journey to get this far and we are excited to push on. One more state and we will have trekked almost 2600 miles through some of the most rugged and beautiful area's in the country. Our feet are tired and we are ready to wrap it up. We are taking a few rest day's at the Oregon/Washington border to rest. Sax, who walked with us for the majority of the trip has come back to conquer Washington. We are glad to have him back, even though he looks even more animalish with his Septum pierced (area between your nostrils). Don't worry will get pictures before we release him back into the wild. We want to thank all of the peep's who have kept up with our blog and who have sent us goodies. We couldn't of made it without your support. This will probably be our last update unless we can find a computer somewhere in Washington. Also to the great people that raised us. We wouldn't be crazy enough to spend 5 months outdoors in the dirt without your inspiration, we love you guys much. Shout out to Asa-T- Train, thanks for watching the wolf child Des. All of the peep's reading this need to get out and enjoy the majestic wildernesses we have right in front of us, NO excuses. Well... off into the wetness we go!

Spoke to Cam...he, Luke and Sax (welcome back Sax!) are departing Stevenson, WA and getting back on trail today. They are hitting some wet weather; we'll see how their little tarps hold up in the rain! Next stop is White Pass, WA (~155 miles). March on boys!

The boys made it to White Pass! The weather has been dropping into the 40's at night with occassional high winds and rains, so after a long day of hiking, a tent has become an essential. Feet are tired but spirits are high...they can almost taste success! The Canadian border is going to be a welcome site! It looks to me like they should be hanging up their hiking shoes pretty much on schedule, ~Sept 13th.

Just wondering if the boys are really about 10 days away from finishing. It's hard to imagine walking all those miles over 5+ months. I'm sure your families will be so glad to have you back home. Good luck these next couple of weeks and God Speed!

Haven't heard from the boys since Snoqualmie Pass (last week). The hiking in the North Cascades has been tough and rugged (similar to the High Sierra's in CA). Feet are very tired, but alas, the excitement of almost being done is carrying them through...
Will keep everyone posted as soon as I get some news!

You guys are legends. When I get to a computer and have time and not busy researching roadwalks on the Olympic Peninsula, I fully plan on catching up to where you guys are. Keep me up to date on what happens post trail...ski resorts and all. I'm thinking about Durango and the nearby resort. We'll see. Cam...lemme know if you know anything about that gig like you have the Leadville hookup. Ok..peace....hearsay

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!! The boys hiked into Manning Park, Canada (end of the PCT) today! They had a meal, made some phone calls and are now heading out. Evidently, it is a very touristy and expensive little town; in their words "Disneyland". They're off to Portland (hitch hiking)...Cam's car is there. There is no cellular service in Manning Park - when they get into a city with a computer, they will update their blog. I'm not sure this accomplishment has sunk in yet, but I am sure their feet are looking foward to a well deserved rest! Congratulations Cam, Luke and Sax!!!

Congratulations! I'm so proud of you guys. Thanks Gen for keeping us updated. Can't wait to hear about the rest of the trail. You really did an amazing feat. Every time I would tell someone about you, they were in awe. Have a safe trip home and congratulations!
