sorry

terrible, terrible news. i regret to inform you all that im getting off trail. i wish i had a solid explanation of why i am choosing to leave the greatest thing that has ever happened to me, but its hard to even face that this is actually happening. poor planning on my part. insufficient funds. im going to take what i have left and try to get back to carbondale before i go completly broke. i want nothing more than to stay on trail. im sore, im tired, but im home. walking away from this is more painful than any body ache. i want to keep walking. i dont want a roof over my head. i want to get tore up by those mosquitos in oregon and get soaked in washington. the past 3 months have been the most incredible days of my life. i would like to sincerly thank, with every inch of my being, all of the people who got me this far. to all of the incredible people that i have crossed paths with, given me shelter, directions, and treats, you have changed my life. thank you. i will come back and finish. class of oh eight! best of luck!!!! CAM AND LUKE! YOU GO ALL THE WAY!!!!!! burke, ill see you in campo for attempt 2. alright! signing out. and always, LONG LIVE THE LIFE!!!

Hey All! Cam and Luke just called from Old Station...evidently, not much there in the way of technology. They are heading to Castella (ETA ~ 5 days). If there is a computer there, they will update us with stories & pics. If not, they anticipate being in Ashland, OR around Jul 19-20th and shouldn't have a problem finding a computer there. They are finally out of smoke and breathing clean air again. Hopefully, they will not encounter any more fires on the trail! I'm sure California seems like it will never end...Oregon is going to be a very welcome site!

So glad to hear Luke and Cam are doing well. We get the fire updates daily, think of the boys often. I too will be glad they are on to Oregon!

They made it to Castella! Full speed ahead to Seiad Valley (ETA ~ 5 days). They are doing great and really looking forward to meeting up with Sue (Luke's mom) in Ashland. Happy hiking Sue! :) I will drop off a package to deliver to the boys before you leave.

BTW...Castella was not much more than a gas station and a post office. It looks like we won't be seeing pics until Ashland.

Hello Cam & Luke,
A goodie package was sent to you by the Burke's to Seiad Valley (I think). Michael took it to the post office. You guys are really moving. Keep it up and keep us posted. Thanks for your moms for updating your wearabouts.

Hey mam I DO understand as I sit at home. just last night I set everything up in the backyard. First I tried a box fan on high. Put it right in front of my bag (cowboy style) but it just wasn't the same. So I set my one man tarp tent and kicked on the sprinklers! Not I started to feel better so I slept. Slept well too i might ad and it's worth the water bill as I miss the trail badly. I am planning round two for 2011. Wanna go? I will go at it with more money and a slower pace but change nothing else. How bout it? 2011 is 2 1/2. Very do-able. Come on I need a cool head like you out there for that forester pass crossing in the frikken snow! Wasn't that amazing! Hell yea it was. Let's go brotha!
